London is for a Curious Traveler

I visited London in November 2009. I booked a room through Travelocity Promotional Code at a hotel near Victoria Station 10 nights before. There were vacant rooms in it. The rate of the room with all amenities in 15-20 minutes walks from Buckingham Palace and just 5 minutes from Victoria Station was 40 pounds per night. The hotel's location was very convenient. Besides, you have to understand what means a "cheap London hotel". Rooms with a private bath are very tiny. Shower can adjoin to the bed, and out of room is already in another half a meter away. A toilet for the first staying in this hotel was outside the room, although "personal." You leave the room and immediately cut a sign on the toilet that says "Only for the number X". And there is only a shower and sink in the room.

In my second staying at this hotel I had a room that already had a toilet and shower within the room. All the porters at the hotel were from India, they were nice and helpful. And the place was always clean. A room with shared facilities can be rented for 30-35 pounds in the heart of London. Such a room, which was away from the center, can be rented ranging from 26 pounds. You can find a place in a hostel rather cheaper (from 8 pounds). But a room for 4-8 persons is very close, and there may live everybody regardless of the gender (it may be a woman and three men or vice versa). In many hotels in the UK there are faucets with hot and cold water separately in the bathroom. There is a kettle and tea bags, coffee, cream and sugar in the room at all the hotels. You should not expect much from the breakfast at London’s cheap hotel. You can have your breakfast at 7.30.
